Parameters represent a question that is asked during the configuration of a product, i.e. a variable that is set by the end user.

Parameters are the main means for data entry for a configuration, and the value of parameters are used for driving all sorts of calculations and renderings done by the configurator like prices and bill of materials.

Types of parameters

There are six types of parameters in Combinum CPQ: Boolean parameter, double parameter, integer parameter, lookup parameter, multi choice parameter and string parameter. Which type of parameter to use depends on the type of question that is asked and what the possible answers are. If, for example, the user shall select a color from a predefined set of available colors a lookup parameter is the best choice, meanwhile if the user shall set a length in millimeters between 2 000 millimeters and 4 000 millimeters a integer parameter is the best choice.
